<>“老鹰”乐队的歌迷都喜欢“加州旅馆”那清亮明快的吉他旋律，而听另一支同样来自美国南部的乐队Tom Petty（汤姆-派提）and the Heartbreakers（负心人）的歌曲也会有类似的感受。
虽然汤姆-派提及其乐队也创建于70年代，但他们的辉煌时期一直延续到90年代，所以其艺术和商业成就更加引人注目。1989年，派提得到最佳摇滚团组格莱美奖，并在过去几届中得到提名。1996年，在此两年前发行的唱盘“Wildflowers”（野花）获得最佳摇滚男声格莱美奖以及多项提名。同年，ASCAP颁发金音符奖表彰派提的作词作曲。这一年，派提还作为历史上第一位摇滚歌手被授予UCLA的乔治/爱若-葛士文艺术生涯成就奖。1999年，派提和乐队进入好莱坞名人殿堂。
1989年，在新泽西的一次音乐会上，因为有关当局禁止“绿色和平”运动在后场散发信息，派提曾经拒绝上台。派提的坚决使当局被迫最后让步。歌星的为人处世由此可见。</P>
<P>Mary Jane's Last Dance（玛丽-珍的最终舞）这个乐队最有名的作品，曾经获得1994年MTV最佳男性音乐影像奖。
